Disney + is set to launch in the USA for a $6.99 subscription
Disney announced in April 2019 an exciting new streaming service called ‘Disney+‘ which will allow users to sign up to for just $6.99 in an attempt to take on rivals Netflix. The announcement confirmed the service will launch on November 12th this year and at this stage, it’s looking like it may only be available for those living in the USA.
The good news for our readers is that most of our top recommended providers found on comparemyvpn.com should be able to overcome any potential Disney + geo-restriction, making all their content available to anyone around the world, irrelevant of their location. Yippee to VPNs!
The company Chairman Bob Iger said recently… “Disney+ marks a bold step forward in an exciting new era for our company—one in which consumers will have a direct connection to the incredible array of creative content that is The Walt Disney Company’s hallmark. We are confident that the combination of our unrivalled storytelling, beloved brands, iconic franchises, and cutting-edge technology will make Disney+ a standout in the marketplace, and deliver significant value for consumers and shareholders alike”.
It’s thought that the entertainment giant will bundle its services with Hulu (which it owns 60% of) as well as ESPN, and Melvyn and team are excited to see what further content will be bundled in with the Disney platform!
Although it’s currently not clear whether users outside of the USA will need a VPN to access this content, we’re pretty sure it’s going to be likely. For this reason, we would recommend users considering signing up to the Disney+ service to take a look at one of our Top 5 VPN providers for the USA by clicking here.
What we know so far is the platform will contain a new Marvel TV series starring Tom Hiddleston, a new Star Wars series, and US streaming rights to the Simpsons. Disney have already started removing its content from rivals Netflix and have promised exclusive film launches for Disney+ users. The company acquired 20th Century Fox Last month and already has Pixar, Marvel and Lucas film under its wing. The ad free service confirmed Avengers spin off ‘Falcon and Winter Solider’ will debut on the platform which is anticipated to be a huge success.
We will put together some further advice on how best to unlock the Disney+ service as soon as we know more. Keep your eyes peeled!
