Ivacy partner with GamersOrigin

A great choice for the best gaming VPN

IvacyVPN has recently announced it’s teamed up with GamersOrigin, one of the largest eSports clubs, to help protect gamers security and anonymity online. This follows on from its partnership deal with West Ham United increasing the awareness of VPN usage. Ivacy has been selected to ensure users benefit from some of the fastest VPN speeds available as well as a fully secure and robust service.

GamersOrigin is Europe’s largest eSports clubs with high profile teams competing in major titles such as Fortnite, League of Legends, Hearthstone, StarCraft II, TrackMania, Street Fighter V, Soulcalibur VI and Apex legends.

The advantages of using a VPN when gaming are becoming more and more relevant as they overcome many issues gamers face when playing online such as ISP bandwidth throttling, the protection of identities as well as bypassing geo-restrictions and blocks.

The move from Ivacy comes at a time when eSports and gaming competitions are becoming much more high profile and mainstream. Serious gamers can earn huge sums of money as seen in the Fortnite World Cup finals where the winner took home a staggering $3m in prize money.

A VPN offers protection to high profile users who are at risk of DDoS attacks which has been more prevalent in these eSport tournaments.

There are so many advantages to using a VPN for gaming and not that only that Ivacy users can also protect all their other devices and benefit from great features including:

Ivacy is already an incredibly cheap VPN given its premium status amongst its peer group, but thanks to its latest partnership with GamersOrigin, they are offering a generous discount in addition to the already amazing special offers. Use code GOWIN15 to get an extra 15% off any of their flexible VPN subscriptions.

Cloud based gaming and why a VPN can improve your gaming experience

The end of the console?

You may have heard the recent announcement from Google regarding Stadia, their new cloud based gaming setup which will launch in November 2019. It’s a pretty interesting concept that aims to shake up the whole gaming industry as it moves away from the traditional console and hardware setup. With Stadia, it’s looking to adopt a similar approach to how Spotify shifted the music industry in 2008.

For a $9.99 per month subscription, users can access a huge library of top games without the expensive barrier to entry that purchasing a console is for many people.

There are also strong rumours that Amazon and Facebook may be launching rival setups too so watch this space…

Using a VPN when gaming

Using a VPN when gaming is already extremely popular and has a whole host of benefits. Firstly, your Internet Service Provider (ISP) will often reduce or cut your connection speed when it detects high levels of bandwidth usage. With the encryption of a VPN, your ISP won’t be able to detect such activity and therefore a VPN for gaming can help maintain a secure and consistent connection speed. This will stop what’s known as ‘bandwidth throttling’ and reduce ping time which causes lag. This will become even more crucial when gamers are playing via cloud-based platforms as even single player games will require a solid connection.

There are lots of additional benefits a VPN can bring to your gaming experience and enhance your privacy whether you use a traditional console or are looking at one of these revolutionary new platforms.

Disney launch new streaming service to rival Netflix

Disney + is set to launch in the USA for a $6.99 subscription

Disney announced in April 2019 an exciting new streaming service called ‘Disney+‘ which will allow users to sign up to for just $6.99 in an attempt to take on rivals Netflix. The announcement confirmed the service will launch on November 12th this year and at this stage, it’s looking like it may only be available for those living in the USA.

The good news for our readers is that most of our top recommended providers found on comparemyvpn.com should be able to overcome any potential Disney + geo-restriction, making all their content available to anyone around the world, irrelevant of their location. Yippee to VPNs!

The company Chairman Bob Iger said recently… “Disney+ marks a bold step forward in an exciting new era for our company—one in which consumers will have a direct connection to the incredible array of creative content that is The Walt Disney Company’s hallmark. We are confident that the combination of our unrivalled storytelling, beloved brands, iconic franchises, and cutting-edge technology will make Disney+ a standout in the marketplace, and deliver significant value for consumers and shareholders alike”.

It’s thought that the entertainment giant will bundle its services with Hulu (which it owns 60% of) as well as ESPN, and Melvyn and team are excited to see what further content will be bundled in with the Disney platform!

Although it’s currently not clear whether users outside of the USA will need a VPN to access this content, we’re pretty sure it’s going to be likely. For this reason, we would recommend users considering signing up to the Disney+ service to take a look at one of our Top 5 VPN providers for the USA by clicking here.

What we know so far is the platform will contain a new Marvel TV series starring Tom Hiddleston, a new Star Wars series, and US streaming rights to the Simpsons. Disney have already started removing its content from rivals Netflix and have promised exclusive film launches for Disney+ users. The company acquired 20th Century Fox Last month and already has Pixar, Marvel and Lucas film under its wing. The ad free service confirmed Avengers spin off ‘Falcon and Winter Solider’ will debut on the platform which is anticipated to be a huge success.

We will put together some further advice on how best to unlock the Disney+ service as soon as we know more. Keep your eyes peeled!

Should I use a VPN when trading Bitcoin?

Last updated on 28/06/2019 by Melvyn and co.

In simple terms... yes!

The ‘hype’ of Bitcoin (BTC) and other cryptocurrencies we’ve seen in recent times peaked towards the end of 2018 but unfortunately came crashing back down to earth losing almost 80% of its value from its highest levels in a matter of days. Many ordinary people lost significant amounts of money after seeing early adopters’ cash out for millions in the hope that they too were on to one of the easiest money makers in recent history. Sadly, as is often the case, nothing goes up in a straight line forever!

However, recently we have seen somewhat of a recovery in Bitcoin as investment and excitement has returned to the space. From its lows in January 2019, Bitcoin has surged from around the $3,000 mark to in excess of $12,500 in recent days, and is currently unsure on where it wants to be positioned (at the time of writing).

We of course offer no opinion or recommendation regarding investing in such a volatile space, however, if you are thinking of potentially purchasing cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, the daily and sometimes drastic fluctuations are not the only ways in which you can lose money…

In theory, trading Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies via blockchain technology should be both secure and anonymous, but in recent times hackers have targeted both exchanges and individual users proving both are still extremely vulnerable. Once any transaction has been complete, it is completely irreversible and totally untraceable.

A VPN with super strong security will help combat many of the risk’s users can face when trading in cryptocurrency, and for a relatively small outlay, could save you a significant sum of money in preventing hackers from accessing your wallet.

Often individuals can accidentally compromise their own bitcoin addresses to hackers or help link it to their real identity and location thanks to their IP address. Common practice are phishing attacks where hackers will attempt to acquire your account details by attaching malware to your computer, for example, for example, a Trojan known as ‘Pony Loader 2.0’.

Ultimately, a highly secure VPN is the only way to truly encrypt and safely conceal your IP address meaning your actual physical address can’t be linked to your bitcoin address (not a good idea if you’ve made tons of money!).

It’s important to note that when choosing a VPN for trading bitcoin and other cryptocurrency, we strongly recommend selecting a highly privacy focussed product that doesn’t store any logs or expose your IP address. Be very cautious when using a free VPN for this purpose too as many aren’t as secure as they may lead you to believe, and in the worst cases, sell on your user data to third parties. Even better… don’t use a free service when money is involved and go total market-leading security!
